Press Release : March 18, 2011
ALEJE warmly welcomes the re?unification of the OLF leadership
Alliance for Liberty, Equality, and Justice in Ethiopia (ALEJE) wholeheartedly congratulates the OLF eldership, its members, and supporters on this momentous victory that paves the way for many successive victories.
The news of the reunification of the OLF leadership and OLF’s determination to re?ignite the struggle for freedom and equality in Ethiopia will definitely create havoc in the camp The TPLF, the minority ethnocentric dictatorship in Ethiopia, the only entity that benefited the most from the split of the OLF leadership in the first place. The unification will usher a new chapter in the struggle against the divide and rule policy of the TPLF regime and move the Ethiopian people one step closer to building a just, equal, and democratic Ethiopia on the ashes of Zenawi’s dictatorship.
With the winds of change blowing strongly towards sub?Saharan Africa, particularly Ethiopia, and the time could not be more opportune for the OLF to take its historic responsibility to work together with other democratic forces to find common ground and common solutions for the challenges and impediments in Ethiopia.
For twenty long years, the TPLF regime has oppressed and humiliated all of us, and looted regional and national resources from all of us. The Ethiopian people have suffered too much and too long while the elites wasted precious time arguing, at times, on irrelevant and meaningless issues.
ALEJE believes the effort to stop the repression, humiliation and the looting must be a collective effort and it must start now. The reunification of the OLF leadership paves the way for all Ethiopian democratic forces to work hard, make up for the lost times, and lead the Ethiopian people to victory.
ALEJE has the full confidence on the OLF leadership to take prompt, decisive, and groundbreaking measures that will embolden the Ethiopian people to light the torch of freedom.
Victory to the peoples of Ethiopia
